Author Spotlight In 1994 Grammy® Award-winning songwriter Bunny Hull was asked
to organize a youth group. It was called the “Apple
Corps”. It’s purpose was to inspire the lives of
children 4-8 with ideas like connection, friendship, kindness and
creativity - to facilitate an elementary understanding of the
universal principles which we all hold in common. She
didn’t know it at the time, but exploring how to do this would
change her life forever. It began with writing a few
children’s songs and over time it evolved into creating activity
books with stories. By 2002 she was dubbed “Musical
Ambassador to children” by L.A. Parent Magazine for the way she
enlightened and connected with children. Today she is an
award-winning children’s author and composer, but prior to this
she received over 20 Gold and platinum awards and a Grammy® Award
for performances and compositions in mainstream music.
Hull’s beginnings as a top vocalist include work on more than 200
albums with greats including Michael Jackson (Thriller), Quincy Jones,
David Foster, Baby Face, Ricky Martin, Celine Dion, Bette Midler and
Jimmy Buffet, to name a few. As a songwriter she’s perhaps best
known for hit songs like 2008 Dove Award Winning song Ready For A Miracle
by LeAnn Rimes or New Attitude, which catapulted Patti LaBelle to the
top of the charts in 1986 and won a Grammy Award as part of the Beverly
Hills Cop soundtrack. Hull has earned more than 20 gold and
platinum albums with songs and/or as a vocalist appearing on
soundtracks and in films such as Evan Almighty, Bruce Almighty, The
Prince of Egypt, Losing Isaiah, A River Runs Through It, Leap of Faith
and Miss Congeniality. Her work for television includes NBC's The Today
Show, Oprah, the Super Bowl, Sesame Street, Alvin and the Chipmunks,
Everybody Hates Chris, Any Day Now, Kings Of The Hill, Charmed and The
Simpsons and national ad campaigns include Harley Davidson, Jenny Craig
and Verizon. Among the many artists who have recorded her songs
are Patti LaBelle, James Ingram, Thelma Houston, Angela Bofill,
Wynonna, Vanessa Williams, Brenda Russell, Diana Ross, Nick Cannon, NAS
and The Judds.
Hull’s passion for working with children took her in a new
direction and those first few songs she wrote for the “Apple
Corps”, blossomed into a publishing catalog filled with over 150
original children’s songs and a wall lined with awards for books
and music. Hull’s titles have been embraced both in
secular and non-secular worlds for their simplicity, charm and
educational value. In a few years the “Apple Corps”
grew up and moved on, but she found herself repeatedly called to
elementary schools, asked to conduct workshops and residency
programs. First there was the HEROES project, then DREAMS, both
projects with former Martha Graham soloist and founder of Los Angeles
Dance Theatre, Bonnie Homsey, and both inspiration for the journey that
would lie ahead. In 2008 Hull graduated from an Artist program
sponsored by the Actors Fund and Sony where she learned to create
standards based curriculum with Leonardo Bravo, head of the educational
programming at the prestigious Los Angeles Music Center.
In 2009, though still in the midst of writing the second three books in
the Young Masters series, Hull called a team of friends and fellow
professional artists together and founded Dream A World Education, Inc,
a non-profit based in California, which uses the arts as a platform to
empower children from the inside out. It all stemmed from the
purpose that was originally defined in 1994. The books, the
music, the curriculum, the residency programs and workshops – all
now came together as a way to get children to understand that they are
born with natural gifts – powerful gifts. Gifts the
children have learned through Butaan, Phylos and EEtha, in the Young
Masters Little Wisdom series, to call - the secrets of the heart.
Secrets of the Heart, is now a six-week standards based residency
program currently conducted in low income L.A. schools where a whole
lot of children by means of Hull and her team have learned how to use
those gifts.
Hull’s love for and belief in the value that comes from the arts
has lead her to perform on the national mall in Washington D.C. for
thousands from over sixty countries for the Child Art Festival and walk
the Halls of Congress with representatives of NARAS (The Grammy
Foundation) for Arts Advocacy Day to raise awareness and increase funding for the National Endowment of the Arts.
Hull is a people lover, an animal lover, a hiker, grill master, world
traveler and a collector of the arts of Africa, Native and Latin
America. She currently resides in Los Angeles where she continues
to be a student of life and a lover of learning.

resides in Los Angeles, where she feels blessed to have access to
her hikes in the Santa Monica Mountains and two yoga classes per
